but yet

This has been bugging me for months now, so I have decided to vent. I swear at least 3 times a day I hear someone say blah blah blah, but yet blah blah blah. Isn't it just but or yet? One of my dumb pet peeves. Love you all. No ifs, ands, buts, or yets about it.

Yeah I think the proper construction would be "and yet" not but yet. But yet seems redundant.

So I know the grammar article says not to use but yet or and yet but to me but yet sounds wrong and and yet sounds right.

i haven't read the article.....i told liz though, but and yet and and for that matter are all coordinating conjunctions they all function the same way within a sentence basically if you diagrammed a sentence with "but yet" in it or even "and yet" it would look really funky and not make much sense liz is right it is just redundant
